LONDON-based officials at the environment department Defra have struck a major blow against North Yorkshire’s important game-shooting industry by introducing new cage sizes for the rearing of baby pheasants and other birds.

Countdown to Skipton Triathlon

OVER 500 people have already signed up for this year’s Skipton Triathlon and Craven District Council is inviting more to jump on board. The event is only 5 weeks away and there is still time for people to sign up. It is hoped that last year’s record entry of 600 will be reached and surpassed.

Stepping out to help hill farmers

HILL farmers in the Yorkshire Dales and some more militant ramblers have often failed to see eye to eye – but a mass walk is to be staged in Upper Wharfedale to raise funds and publicise the threat to upland agriculture.

CRAVEN looks forward to welcoming Fred Trueman statue to Skipton. A little piece of cricketing history is up for grabs at a gala dinner celebrating the life of iconic Yorkshire and England fast bowler Fred Trueman – ahead of the unveiling of a statue dedicated to his memory.
