Schools celebrate swimming success

[Monday 27 July 2009]
New lease of life for Yorkshire Dales ‘green lane’

CHILDREN from eleven primary schools from the Thirsk area took to the water recently for the third annual swimming gala.

Hosted by the Thirsk White Horse Swim Team, the ‘Schools Gala’ saw the youngsters compete in a variety of races - including backstroke and freestyle relays as well as individual events. Both relay teams and individual winners were rewarded with medals.

Sowerby School took pride of place from the 'Big Schools' with South Kilvington taking the 'Small Schools' trophy

The gala is organised and run by volunteers from the Swim Team with help from Thirsk Swimming Pool staff and students from Thirsk School.
